Poke, Infinity Pools, and an Introduction to Paradise

Duration: 3 days, 2 nights
Island: Maui, HA

Hawaii’s main island. We didn’t stay long enough to see the WHOLE island but we definitely saw everything we wanted to see. I even took a solo trip WAY out west to Disney’s hotel and Pearl Harbor while Nessa was at her cousin’s wedding.

Things To Do

1. Diamond Head Hike

Very popular hike for the main island. It’s nothing crazy in terms of trails. You can definitely hike these in runners and you’ll see plenty of people at the top.  Map

2. Hanauma Bay

Beautiful bay to chill at the beach and go snorkeling in. You have to pay to get in, but it’s nothing crazy. Bring a snorkel and spend a few hours here. Map

3. Waikiki Bay

The main beach of downtown Honolulu. Just get a hotel in the area and walk around. Pro-tip…

Sheraton Waikiki – they have an infinite pool on the beach. You might have to be a hotel guest to use it, but you can totally just walk in if you are confident enough. Map

4. East Coast Highway Drive

There are a bunch of stops along the drive. Always wear bathing suits because you can find yourself in the water in any of these places!

  • Spitting Cave
  • China Wall
  • Halona Blowhole
  • Makapu’u Tide Pools

5. Pearl Harbor

What guide would be complete without mentioning Pearl Harbor. I didn’t get a chance to take a tour, but just stopping for a bit and taking it all in was interesting to see.

Best Food & Drink

1. Fresh Catch Kaimuki

The best poke that I had the entire trip. There is a mix of variety with unmatched quality. I easily ate there 4 or 5 times.  Map

2. Ono Seafood Products

Apparently they are an institution. While unassuming, they were certainly delicious. It was the first poke place we ate at, and it set a high bar. Map

3. Ahi Assassin’s Fish Co.

We only had the chance to swing by before our trip to the airport, but I’m glad we were able to. They have some unique mixes that were truly killer.  Map

4. Marukame Udon Waikiki

We love noodles. This place had good noodles. This place was one block away from our hotel. There was a line in the evenings so we ate a few breakfasts there.  Map

5. Mud Hen Water

I went on a lovely date with Nessa’s sister’s boyfriend since we both had a night without them. It was hip and delicious. The area was kinda hip too. Overall our Man Date was a success. Map
